In chess, there are six different (types or names) pieces - king, queen, rook, bishop, knight and pawn. Chess is played by two opponents: one plays with white pieces, the other with black ones. Each player has 16 pieces - one king, one queen, two rooks, two bishops, two knights and eight pawns. Each of these pieces moves around the chessboard.
