Leopard, or leopard, or panther (lat. Panthera pardus) is a species of predatory mammals of the cat family, one of four representatives of the genus panther (lat. Panthera), belonging to the subfamily of big cats.

In the XX century, it was included in the IUCN Red Book, in the Red Book of Russia, as well as in the security documents of other countries. However, in many African countries, the relatively high number of leopards makes it possible to allocate an annual quota for their prey.
